The
Kids
4 Health program is committed to leading a community effort to prevent and reverse
the impact of unhealthy lifestyles effect on our youth through the achievement
of our major program goals:
To
establish a community priority to create an environment in which kids can
grow-up healthy
, happy and safe.
To
conduct high volume health education programs designed to increase youth’s
knowledge and awareness of healthy lifestyles and to directly assist families
to improve their health.
To
provide a physical fitness program that combats sedentary lifestyles and
enhances each participant’s optimum physical, emotional and social development.
To
provide health and nutritional work shops to improve eating habits and address
underlying reasons for poor nutrition.
Dr. Tonya Bryan, a pediatrician at Park Nicollet
hospital and YDS board member, will lead our Kids 4 Health program and
advisory board of doctors, health professionals, and volunteers. Dr. Bryan
leading the development of YDS’s customized and nationally recognized youth
health and wellness curriculum and lecture series will be instrumental, implementing
and delivering the program.
For youth struggling with obesity our program will
also provide one on one counseling, the tools and support system to address related emotional,
mental and health challenges.
